GatherDC and The Micah Storefront Project are teaming up to offer a beginner’s seder workshop. Over the course of two group sessions along with optional 1-1’s with our rabbi facilitators, we will introduce the structure, themes and rituals of the seder. The main objective is to ask all your questions and derive deep and practical answers along the way!

The goal is that you’ll be able to enter your actual seder feeling more knowledgeable, confident and excited to bring meaningful questions and content to the seders you attend, fulfilling the original intent of the seder ritual - to inspire lively, rich and memorable Passovers for everyone.

Why are we offering this?

The actual goal of the Passover seder is to help us to retell the liberation story of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt. Everything about the seder is designed to prompt questions - the symbols, rituals, and texts all are meant to spark curiosity and conversation, and speak to the relevance of the Passover story for our time.

We know that for those who have either never or rarely been to a seder, there are probably way more questions than the famous four questions suggested in the Passover haggadah (basically, the script)! You may not be sure if there will be the time or space to ask yours at the seder.

Whether technical or basic, controversial or open-ended, your questions have a place at the Passover seder. For those who are brand new or newish to the seder experience, we want to help you feel more comfortable being an active, and even proactive Passover guest by prepping with a cohort of peers and our facilitators, Rabbi Stephanie Crawley and Rabbi Ilana Zietman.

We are capping this experience to create a space where everyone can actively participate, so apply today!
